Lorenzo Duran Influences

An artist that does delicate and very finely cut art work is Lorenzo Duran which I think is amazing so I tried it as one of my samples because delicacy is what I'm aiming to portray. These are my samples along with Lorenzo Duran's work that I got influenced from.

Insecurity

From looking at Matthew Darbyshire's work and from meeting him, he said that the person behind the Blade's House and who "lives" there is self-conscious so I wanted to take that to respond to his work... From this I got the word insecurity which I wanted to portray through my final outcome. To do this I need to use fragile/weak material

Through this sample I wanted to create something that would be strong and neat on one side and messy and untidy on the other to portray someone that comes across like they're okay but on the inside has a lot of problems and insecurities that doesn't always come across on the outside.

For this I wanted to make something that was delicate so I used a craft knife to cut out the triangles. I used black sugar paper and red sugar paper for these samples but if I was to choose to do something like this for my final piece I would use a more fragile material and cut the lines so that they're thinner.

Adornment

These is something I made to respond to the word "Adornment" 

I used black sugar paper and straws for the first one which I did some weaving as adornment is seen to be something that's deemed to look good and attractive.

I also did this to respond to Adornmet because a flower is seen to be pretty. I made this with blue sugar paper. 'Lifecycled'

For our new brief 'Lifecycled' we are to create either a 2D, 3D, craft, digital, fashion, ornament, sculpture or textile outcome. It has to be Lifecycled and will respond to Matthew Darbyshire's exploration of reappropiation, either through materials or ideas. 

We then had workshops with Andrea Zapp who is a media artist and is mostly known as a fashion designer. This is some of her work and an outcome from a quick activity we did with her.

After our workshop with Andrea Zapp we then went onto a workshop with Claire Norcross who is an award-winning designer specialising in lighting. She shown us some of her work and explained more of how the artist/ designer communicates with the manufacturer and the importance of detail needed. We then constructed one of her flat pack story lights. This is some of her work and the light we constructed.

We then went to Ferrious and explored the store and was told the history of Ferrious along with there most popular sales. This is some of the furniture that was at Ferrious.
